CH: Bury the Alleluia

This brief service for children immediately before the 6:30pm Mass on Ash Wednesday highlights one of the aspects of the liturgy during the Lenten season: we do not sing “Alleluia” as an acclamation before the proclamation of the Gospel at Mass.

Children will bury their colored Alleluia pictures before the 6:30pm Mass on Ash Wednesday. Throughout Lent, the alleluias will remain hidden away until Easter Sunday morning, when they will form a colorful display in the entrance of the church.
