Discipleship Team

The Discipleship Team or Disciples in Training (DTs) are a group of High School aged volunteers. After they have completed Confirmation in 8th Grade, they are offered the opportunity to assist with the Confirmation Program. The DTs continue their spiritual growth with retreats, prayer sessions and faith discussions. They also assist with set-up and breakdown during Confirmation sessions. They contribute to the Confirmation sessions by leading group discussions with the candidates. The DTs lead activities, games, perform skits and give witness to their own faith journey. DTs are a very essential part of the Confirmation program. Adult volunteers are needed as well to guide and support the program.

Holy Name Society

The Organization itself was started back in the 15th century and its primary purpose was to beget reverence for the Holy Name of God and Jesus Christ. The organization is also opposed to blasphemy, perjury and immorality and each member pledges an oath to commit to these goals. At Saint Joseph’s a group of 7 men, of which only Don Stein is an original, got together back in 1998-1999 and founded our branch after obtaining the laws from the National Association of Holy Name. Joseph Kelly came in soon after. We formed using our own money after naming a treasurer. We researched different banners from already established groups and had our banner made.

We have grown from our original membership of seven men to our current 30 or so members that now include the women of our parish. We have incorporated some of the goals of the St. Vincent de Paul organization where we grow spiritually by offering our services and/or financial assistance to those that are in need or suffering. We are also proud of the many roles that our members take within the parish such as Ushers, Eucharistic ministers, lectors and Parish Council members. The Holy Name also rehabilitates broken Rosary Beads and sends them to Catholic Veterans. We also sell Luminaries each year as a fund raiser to supplement our treasury along with our annual dues.

Our group meets monthly on the second Sunday of each month and attend the 8:00 mass as a group. We consist of an executive board of a President – Marianne Dispoto, Vice President – Don Stein, Treasurer – Joyce Esposito, Recording Secretary – Joseph Kelly, and Marshalls Steve Raugh and Patrick Burke. It is hoped that that we are able to continue to be a contributing faction of Saint Joseph’s for years to come.

Youth Ministry

We are excited that we have a program for high school students here at St. Joseph’s! St. Joseph Youth Ministry meets Wednesday evenings from 7:30 – 9:00 PM. Youth Ministry meetings and events are open to ALL high school students in grades 9 through 12.

The St. Joseph Youth Ministry program gives our teenage parish members the chance to bond through fun activities, which includes opportunities to socialize with their peers, serve those in need, and give them a chance to deepen their own spiritual lives.

All Youth Ministry functions will require participants and volunteers to wear masks and follow social distancing protocols.

We look forward to meeting you!!
