The Golden Rule
Christ reminds us to love others and treat others the same way we would like to be treated. We are called to be merciful as our Heavenly Father is merciful. Christ encourages us not to judge and condemn, but to always forgive others as our Heavenly Father has forgiven us. We must also keep in mind that we will one day be judged according to how we loved and served our brothers and sisters in Christ, as well as by how we have forgiven those who have wronged us.
Jesus is asking us to work within our own hearts so that we may be more receptive to the needs of our fellow brothers and sisters. Once we open our hearts to the workings of the Holy Spirit and to His Gift of Piety, we begin seeing others as God sees us. Only then will we see the fruits of the Spirit in our own lives.
Today’s Tip: Our Lord invites us to give Him our whole hearts and offer all that we have to serve others. Take a few moments to look at your own life. Are you often judgmental of others? Are you too quick to become angry? Do you hold onto your own regrets? This prohibits us from receiving all that the Lord wants to offer us in our lives. Surrender all of this to Him and remain united with Him in prayer and “the measure with which you measure, will in return be measured out to you.”
